Opulence
Summer Set Designer / Set Dresser / BTS Photographer / 2026
Opulence is a story surrounded by community and dance. It’s a film that breaks away from being safe and staying in the box. It’s a story that embraces the hardships and turns them into something new. I had the Honor of designing our summer set, creating meaning behind the season. Everything was intentional and carried an underlying meaning that strengthened the story's power.
Dandelions felt like the perfect fit. These beautiful flowers are often overlooked and written off as weeds, growing in cracks and along the edges, yet they are resilient, radiant, and everywhere! Much like the beauty and strength found in Black culture, dandelions have symbolized survival, adaptation, and the ability to thrive even in spaces not designed for them. Throughout the season, they shift from bright yellow to soft white, carrying a story of time, transformation, and hope. These flowers bloom, survive, and pass on, mirroring the rhythm of the seasons themselves, all in one little but powerful flower. Within the set, each dancer will be represented by one large dandelion,
